Transition to 9th Grade

The MEHMS Counseling Department invites the Parents/Guardians of our rising 9th grade students to attend our high school transition events in February. In conjunction with the GMHS Counseling Department and IB Coordinator, we will be holding several events to help with transition to GMHS.

We will be going over how to understand high school transcripts and diploma types, information about the IB (International Baccalaureate) program, and discussing registration for courses at George Mason High School. The dates are:

Date TBD - There will be an evening event at George Mason High School to go over diploma types, course registrations, and answer your questions about the transition to high school.  In addition, Dan Coast, the IB Diploma Programme Coordinator from GMHS will also be there to answer questions you might have about the DP programme.

- The GMHS Counselors will be at MEHMS in order to present the same information from the night before, in case you are not able to attend the evening session. This is just about the registration and course selection, no IB information will be at this event.

, the school counselors from GMHS will be coming to MEHMS during Flex, in order to meet with students and help them in the scheduling process. Students will bring home their scheduling worksheet after this meeting, in order for you to discuss their choices for high school, and will register using the PowerSchool online system.
