Speech & Language

  • What is a speech language pathologist?

A school-based speech/language pathologist assesses, diagnoses, and treats speech (articulation disorders), language (vocabulary skills), social communication (pragmatic language), voice, and fluency (stuttering) disorders. My job also includes developing and implementing IEP goals, writing reports, and observing students in various settings within the school.

I have a current license in speech-language-pathology through the state of Virginia.

I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

ALL ABOUT MISS MCKEE (mckeeamy@fccps.org)

Hi! My name is Miss Amy McKee. I work full-time as the speech/language pathologist at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School. I began working for Falls Church City Public Schools at the start of the 2013-14 school year. Before working here, I was a speech/language pathologist at Cumberland Valley School District in Pennsylvania for 8 years. Along with working at MEH, I also work part time at McLean Speech & Language where I see clients as young as toddlers to adult. I received my B.S. from Penn State University and my M.S. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I have many interests outside of my job. I enjoy hiking, riding my bicycle, shopping, reading, spending time with friends, walking my dog, playing and watching sports (basketball, football, hockey, baseball, and golf) gardening, and cooking. I live in Arlington with my dog Bella. She is a 10-year-old Golden Retriever
